Call & Response
Call & Response
Call & Response is a trademark of many kinds of black music and has it´s origin in the work songs in the cotton fields and the singing in churches. You will find Call & Response in Spirituals, Blues to Free Jazz. Sometimes just the singers use it, sometimes a singer and a guitar or even two guitars playing it. You will play one phrase or lick and then you (or another musician or singer) will answer with another lick or a text line.
